It having been stated that the insurance offices refuse to pay the South British the amount of its reinsurance, on the loss of the Czarewitch, the Guardian says :—We understand the South British never raised any objections to payment of the policy on the losu of the vessel, but was warded by other companies that its doing so. would prejudice the case pending between the underwriters and the Superintendent. in accordance with such request, the South British refrained from paying until the. case was decided, but thereupon forthwith paid over a cheque for the full amount. Now the other four companies refuse to pay their quota, and it is reported that, in oase the South British Eresses for payment, a ring will be formed y the other Insurance Companies, with the object of refraiuing from doing any kind of business with the South British.
