AUCKLAND DIOCESAN CHORAL ASSOCIATION.

A preliminary practice took place in St. Matthew's Church last evening. There was a very large attendance of the members of the choirs of the several Anglican Churches in the city and suburbs. The fourth annual festival will be held in the same church on Monday evening next, to commence at 7 o'clock. The order of service ie 'printed, and commences with the processional hymn, "Come, ye Faithful," followed by the 15th Pf-alm, " Lord who shall dwell," Battishill; 48th Psalm, "Great is the Lord," E. J. Hopkins; 84th Psalm, " 0 how amiable are Thy dwellings," T. Barnby ; " Magnificat" and "Nunc Di mittis." The Anthem is by J. Stainer, Mus. Doc. ; the words from Rev. viL, 13—17; to be followed by a hymn, also by Stainer, the words by the iiev. VV. D. Maclagan, "The Saints of God:" and an " Ancient Plain Song," the words by J. M. Neale, D.D.," " Oh, what Joy." There are two other hymns, •' Who are these, like stars appearing," and 478 of the Church Hymns, "On our way rejoicing." The following are the choirs enrolled in the Association :—St. Paul's, Auckland : St. Matthew's, Hobson-street ; St. Mary's, Parnell; St. Sepnlchre's, *ymonds-street; St. Mark's, Remuera; All Saints, Ponsonby ; St. Peter's, Onehunga; Epiphany Chapel, West Newton ; Trinity Church, Devonport; St. Peter's, Hamilton (Waikato); St. John's, Ngaruawahia ; St. Andrew's, Cambridge. Mr. Vincent E. Rice was organist, and Mr. Joseph Brown conducted. There wr-'e several clergymen of the various ohurclws also in attendance.
