The Agricultural Show is going on, and is good in every particular. GISBORNE, Wednesday. The Jane Douglas, which left for Auckland yesterday, carries Mr. Wm. King, Makauri Wills, and family. He goes to make investments in new plant, &c. After he left, a report came in that Mr. R. Cooper, with fifty men, was going to tear up the tramways, &c, at the mill, in consequence of his being stopped removing posts, &c. Mr. Cooper went to Maugatu to collect men yesterday, and will be back to-day. TAURANGA, Wednesday, The Bay of Plenty Times has a strong leader, denouncing Native administration, and charging Henry Tacy Clarke with being the cause of the obstruction to the opening of Kaimai. It states he is merely raising imaginary difficulties, and on the retirement of Sir D. McLean, will return to Tauranga, and open the fields with a flourish of penny whistles. The article blames Capt. Morris for apparent apathy, and eulogises Mr. Sheehan for his action in the House. It is rumoured here that Commissioner Brabant was yesterday instructed to discontinue all endeavours to open the field. The Kaimai Committee has requested Mr. Sheehan to ask the House if such is true, and he has promised to do so. COROMANDEL, Wednesday. In the Union Beach, a haul of good specimens, about 50 lbs. in weight, was made last evening, in sloping on the cross leader. A further parcel of about 401bs. is reported to have been obtained to-day. The Golden Point lodged, yesterday, at the National Bank, 38 ozs. melted gold, the result of a crushing of 60 lbs. of specimen stone. The lona are now driving both ways on the leader. There is no doubt that this lode is the Beach cross leader, the course being the same, and aleo the characteristics of the quality. The Palmerston are unable to continue sinking the shaft with the horse whip. The directors are to have a meeting, to consider the advisability of procuring an engine. THAMES, Wednesday. The Red, White, and Bine tributers are repairing shoots, and from 20 tons crushed realished 17ozs. 4dwts. melted gold. Crushing is to be resumed in a few days.
