Political rumours are becoming more plentiful, every day. The latest is as ingenious as' it is circumstantial, and is good enough to be true. It is to the effect that Parliament will positively meet on the loth of June next, not in May, as has been given out, and th.-,t when the House does meet, nothing more will be done than pass the Local Government Bills, and at once prorogue. Parliament will of course be re-assembled in a few days, when the position will be this : The Abolition Bill will then be law indisputable, and the Government will have no diffidence at all in submitting their financial proposals respecting the altered condition of the colony. It it only fair to say that those who ought to know o£ this pretty little scheme, i£ it existed at all, assert that it is a villanous fabrication.

Jacob Josephs to-day refused a thousand pounds upon his bargain in purchasing wreck and freehold of the Empire Hotel. Perrier has, under the new arrangements, virtual control of the editorial department of the New Zealand Times.

Mr. Creighton has for a good while been talking of going to some other part of New Zealand, and has made up his mind at last to go. He was rather well liked. : The Terpsichoreimmigrants are progressing slowly. Over £200 has been presented to the different fire brigades from residents who either suffered or were endangered by the late fire.

One of our. evening papers 'is agitating that three or four of our crack shots should be sent to Philadelphia. Mr. Morley, a Wesleyan minister, being about to leave Wellington, has been presented with a time-piece and address by hie congregation.
