1 =supplythe=foL lowing:— ' ' WELLINGTON, Friday. ; At a meeting of the shareholders of the Titanic Steel Company, last night, to consider the position "of'the company, the chairman announced that the directors were 'not opposed to stopping all operations -until a competent manager—chemical and practical —was obtained, as resolved by the Dunedin shareholders. Mr. Shaw recommended that the works should be stopped until the directors had an opportunity of examining the new methods of working. He admitted that the cost of an experiment would be £2,000,' and if new methods failed he recommended that the whole affair be stopped altogether. In reviewing the work of the past two years he s*id the great difficulty had been fuel; they had calculated to get charcoal at 3d. per bushel, and ultimately had to manufacture it themselves at Is. 7id. But even had they fuel the present process was useless. In defending the directors from reproach Mr. Shaw said they had trusted to Mr, -Smith, and he had misled them. Mr. Shaw's proposal was carried. He stated that he was going to' America soon and would make all arrangements.
