THE GOLDFIELDS.

[prom our own correspondent.] Thames, Friday. Crown Princess.—The usual cleaning up for this company will take place at tho Bright Smile battery to-morrow, when a fair average return may be expected. Waiotaiit.—The monthly return for this company shews an improvement on the quality of the stuff crushed. Tho battery has been employed partially on small lots for the tributers, one party of which are still engaged in breaking out quartz for treatment. The manager, Mr. Smith, haa been enabled to place 100 tons, which the stampers have reduccd for the company, and the yielil therefrom has been 137 ozs. 3 dwt. melted gold,—the chief and most valuable Iportion obtained from the foot-wall leader and small vein in the southern portion of the ground, and 20 tons from No. 2, or the Manukau lode—this proved poor. Near to the Manukau boundary this reef has been pinched into small compass, but has deviated from its course, and is now running at almost right angles, parallel with the boundary line. The stono has, however, assumed better proportions, and looks healthier, and a further crushing will be ventured on. Benuioo Independent.—A crushing for the tributers, Hamilton and Co., was started at the Alburnia battery, but after 9 tons were put through, the mill ceased, owing to a leakage occurring in the boiler, which will be rectified at once. The return is but poor, as the worst portion of their parcel came to the mill, —being 4 ozs. 9 dirts. C grs. melted gold. City of London.—This company have been enabled to place a dividend of 2s Gd per scrip to the credit of shareholders, payable on Saturday, 3rd July, representing £025 ; or the sum of £5000 within the past four mouths.
