COMPULSORY VACCINATION.

To the Editor of the Herald. .Sri:, —Is it right that the law should compel me to vaccinate my child, when I have a conscientious conviction that in doing so I am acting wrongly ? Should I not have complete control over my own child, whoso health and well-being is more dear to me than it can be to a Government who know it not and care not for it ? Is it not a fact that convoying tho lymph from a child who may be affected with hereditary disease may communicate it to another who is, constitutionally, perfectly sound and healthy ? Do not many of the medical profession say this is likely to be the ease, and has, in fact, proved to bo the case ? Then why should a Government pass such a law 1 Answer me this. —lam, &c., L. S. Newton, October 27, 1874.
