Arrivals Coastwise.—Alarm, cutter, from Mang&wai, with produce; Scotchman, steamer, from the Hot Springs, witli raft of timber; Lady Bowen, p.s., from Mahtirangi and the Hot Springs; Efforts, p.s., from tbe Wade, with & raft of timber. The new steamer Manaia is expected to be ready for the Coromandel trade within a fortnight. The schooner Bally Bayley left llobart Town for Dunedin on the 15th inst., with a cargo of fruit, <fec. The s.s. Taranaki, having been detained at Wellington, is not expected in the Manukau from the South until Wednesday next. The A.S.P. Co.'s s.s. Star of the South is due here to-morrow morning from Napier. She will leave on Wednesday afternoon next for Levuka. The time-tables of the steamers Enterprise, for Coromandel, and the Hauraki for the Thames, for the ensuing week are published elsewhere. The barque Bella Mary, which sailed on the lst inst.. had not arrived at Hobart Town when the Chanticleer left on the ISth inst. The repairs to the barque Ansdell are progressing. A new foremast has been stepped, and new foretopmast sent up yesterday, both being very good spars. The brig Jane, which left this port on the 22nd July for Hobart Town, arrived at her destination on the 18th inst. The whaling brigantine Sarah Pile arrived at Hobart Town, from Rivert?n, New Zealand, on tho 15th inst.

The ketch Clematis, having discharged her cargo, •went en the gridiron yesterday, for n cleaning and overhaul. A. strong westerly wind, amounting almost to a gale, blew over the harbour during yesterday. Towards evening the wind lulled considerably, and a calm prevailed. The s.s. Southern Cross, Captain Cellars, arrived yesterday morning, from Tauranga. with several passengers and a small cargo of produce. She J eaves again this afternoon for Tauranga. The three-masted schooner Police Officer, bound from the Thames to Russell, put into harbour yesterday early, and anchored off the North Head, waiting a change of wind. Messrs. J. Darrach and Son are actively engaged in shipbuilding at Mahurangi. A topsail schooner is approaching completion at their yards, and may b» expected in w Auckland in course of about three weeks. The A.S.P. Co.'s s.s. Southern Cross arrived at Napier at eight o'clock yesterday morning, from Auckland, after a passage of 45 hours. She is anuouueed to leave again to-day, with a cargo of cattle for this port. We learn from Captain Sellers that the brigantine Helena, which stuck on the spit at i'aurangp. harbour, hpj; been floated off after being lightered. She h*s received no damage from h: j r stranding. The brig Chanticleer, 187 tons. Captain T. 11. Harvey, arrived in harbour yesterday, from Jlobart Town, after a splendid passage of ten days, notwithstanding strong contrary winds encountered on the passage. Her cargo of fruit, &c., arrives in excellent condition, and the vessel will be berthed alongside the wharf at once to discharge. Captain Harvey reports having left Hobart Town on the 18th August, and cleared the land same day with a moderate »S.W. wind, which lasted until the 22nd instant; the wind then shifted t« the eastward, blowing strong from t.he N.K. for 24 hours, and afterwards veered to the northward and N.W. with thick hazy weather accompanied bv thunder and lightning; on the 25tli and 2Gth tho barometer stood at 29.15.; picssed the Three Kings at daylight on the 27th, and rounded the North Cape at 1.30 p.m., with tine W.N. W. wind; passed Cape Urett at midnight, arrived at Rangitoto channel at Ip.m. on the 28th, and beat up harbour with a strong westerly wind, arriving at 4 p.m. We are indebted to Captain Harvey for late Australian papers.
