THE RIFLE ASSOCIATION MATCHES.

The second match of the Rifle Association was held at the Mount Eden Rifle-range on Saturday. Filing commenced at eight o'clock a.m. and was concluded about three o'clock p.m. Captain Derrom, of the Victoria Company, was in command of the competitors, and Major Gordon acted as umpire. The match was fur members of the Rifle Association only. Ranges : 200 and 600 yards, tcTen shots each range, Wimbledon targets. The prizes were: First, asilver cup presented by 3lr. H. Kohn (to be the absolute property of the winner) ; second, £5 ; third, £3 10s; fourth, £2 ; fifth, £1 10s ; sixth, seventh, and eighth, £1 each ; ninth, 153 ; tenth, eleventh, and twelfth, 10s. Range prizes of £l at each range. The shooting was fair, but not so good as it was on Friday, a strong wind blowing up the range during the competition. The following are the scores : —

~-Mr. Somerville takes the first prize, and the range prize at 600 yards ; Volunteer C. Partington, second prize; Mr. Slatter, third prize ; Volunteer Hay, fourth prize; Volunteer Henderson, fifth prize, and the range prize at 200 yards; Sergeant Soall, sixth prize; Volunteer Boardman, Beventh prize ; Volunteer Brighton, eighth prize; Volunteer Eeid, ninth prize ; Sergeant Provo, tenth prize ; Volunteer May, eleventh prize; Volunteer W. Stone, twelfth prize. The third match (for Cadets only) ia to be fired to-morrow morning.
