Moir, of the Mangawai Hotel, being unopposed, was granted. A new license was applied for by Nicholas Sarah, for a house which is being built at H'akuru Tillage. The six nearest householders had. not signed the certificate required by the Licensing Act, 1871, neither had two-thirds of the inhabitants of the district signed one. Some of the most distantly resident settlers had signed one which it seemed was satisfactory to the Bench. Objections had been made by three of the nearest householders, and were lodged with the chairman of the Bench. Such objections were moat ably supported by J. Eyan, Esq., one of the objectors. The Bench, howeyer, overruled t hem and granted the licencc. Mangawai Hotel being ouly distant four miles, causes some persons to think there wub no necessity for another 1 public-houae so near.—[Correspondent.]
