OUR THAMES LETTER.

Friday, 4 p.m. Aix Nations.—During the past, night another fine lot of picked stone was broken out of the lode behind the main tunnel level ; and at the present moment there is still a fine show of gold. 'The manager will commence to crush specimens early to-morrow morning, at the Kuranui single stamper, preparatory to a final clean up on Saturday for the month. The weight of picked stone in hand, at the present moment, is over 2i cwt., but by to-morrow this will be considerably augmented, so that a yield of close upon 2000 ozs. may be looked for.

City of Loxdox.—l am very glad to record that the manager of this company reports that the cross cut at bottom of the new shaft, 182 feet deep, lias at last intersected the main lode; and having gono through it proves to be about four feet wide, good solid stone. A little of the casing and stone has been washed, and the prospects therefrom are said to be very good. Bwght Smile.—The cross course that affected the lode iu the bottom level, coming S.W. or seaward, has now been passed through, and the leader found to be very good, equal in every respect to what it was nearer the shaft. Some of the stone that was broken out this morning is very good indeed, showing gold freely. Inverness. — I am very glad to inform your readers that a change for the better has taken place in the main lode, low level. On Monday I stated that- the manager had driven on the slide for a few feet, and picked up a body of quartz and mullock, but I am glad to say that there is now a fine body of stone two feet wide, equal to anything that has been seen iu this low level, and should the lode coutinue to give out such prospects as those obtained last night, there is every probability of this mine yet coming to the front, as no less than twenty pounds of really first-class picked stone is now in hand.

Black Axgkl —This company steadily employ ten heads of the Manukau machine, and the show so far promises a yield of about J oz. per ton, which yield will pay well, considering the width of tho lode. The size of the lode in the intermediate level is now fully four feet wide, and a* it is beina broken out by contract at a low figure, anything over half an ounce will leave a profit.

Flying- Clotjd have again resumed crushing at the Manukau machine, -where five heads of stampers are employee l . The stuff now going through the buttery is supposed to be much richer than the last lot put through, therefore an improved yield may bo looked forward to. It is from the stopes above the present low level, and close to the locality from whence some of the best returns came.
