HUMOUR.
A BtrsioxJE was prevalent through the town on Saturday that telegraphic intelligence had been received from Col. Moule, stating that the Waikato was in danger and that one hundred and fifty men were to be at once despatched to INgaruawahia. Other versions of the state of affairs which we need not particularise were also curront. The excitement ni'ose from a very simple fact. During the course of Saturday morning instructions were received from Col. Moule, (probably despatched in consequence of orders received by that officer from the Defence Minister in Wellington per Phoebe) requesting that a number of placards should be printed, calling for the services of one hundred men to enlist in the Armed Constabulary. Tlie probability is, that as Canterbury has been asked for men for the Patea, Auckland has received a similar requisition. As the men desirous of enlisting are to apply to Col. Moule this morning their destination will we daresay be soon known.
