ECCLESIASTICAL.
THE GENERAL SYNOD. Amongst the passengers by the Phoebe were Southern members of the General Synod of the Church of England in New Zealand. Divine service will be held on Monday, at II a.m., at St. Paul's Church, when the coming session of the General Synod will be opened by the administration of the Holy Communion. The members of the Synod will meet for the despatch of business in the Cathedral Library at 3 p.m. on Monday. To-morrow(Sunday), the Bishop of Now Zealand will celebrate Divine service at St. Marks, Remuera, in the morning, and in the afternoon at St. Andrew's, Epsom, for the purpose of consecrating the latter Church, which has been built during his absence from the colony. In the evening he will conduct service, with confirmation, at St. Matthew's. The Rev. E. N. Bree, Incumbent of All Saints' Church, having returned from his visit to the North, will perform the usual services nt that Church to-morrow. The Bishop of Now Zealand held a confirmation service at Ho wick on. Wednesday last, and at Mauku on the following day.
