CONSISTENCY.
To the JEdilor of tho Herald. Sis.—T have heard it said that tho member for Newton and tho Kditor of the Cross are one and the same individual, but web aye , the authority of Ilio Cross itself for believing these two characters to he entirely distinct; such a statement cannot bo true. It U certain, however, that the opinions of fie Cross and those of the hon. member, reputed to ba its Editor, change together ; both, oracles are juet now going in strongly for Mr. Oarletrm andhis peculiar vie wa oa centralization- Let the people, however, remember that Mr. is the guntleman who virtually held the reine of Government in 1864, during the iniquitous and extravagant expenditure of the'hilfmilliou loan; and that lie is consequently largely responsible for the present disastrous state of affiire in this province, and they will then bo better able to judije tho valua of hie pauacea for the evils of his own creation.—l am, &e., ~.-•,• .-■•-.
