Mr. Cablhtok to nsV Ibo Provincial Treasurer, Whether, in the last settlement of accounts between the General Government nnd the province, the emlring fund paid to tho half-uiillion low has boan provided for by tho General Government. NOTICES OF JIOTIOSr. Mr. Giotiltah to "lovo, That this Council do now resolve itself into a Committee of Supply, for the purpose of considering th<u Eatimatos transmitted in Message No. 16. Mr. Oarleton to move, That this Council Bee no cause for departure from the usual practice in regard to tho estimates, and that the items of expenditure, aa heretofore, ought to be submitted to the Council for approval, mid not only the sums total as in the estimates brought down by the Provincial Treasurer on the 21et instant. Mr. Oaulkton to move, 1. That with a view to tho reduction of establishments, and the winding up of tho dealings ot the Provincial Government with lands, it is expedient that the lands at the disposal of the Provincial Government should be brought into the market at the earliest possible date.

2. That all commissions issued to Land Agents in England and elsewhere should ba immediately revoked. X ...■■■■ 3. That all proclamations of land to be set aside for special settlements should be immediately revoked, with the exception of what may be necessary to fulfil obligations already incurred, or which may have been incurred by agents before notice of the discontinuance of their respective agencies shall have reached them. 4. That all surveyed land ehould be offered by auction at the price 3 fixed, and that uneurveyed land be offered at ten shillings an acre to parties undertaking to survey the lots applied for, as provided by section 49 of the Regulations. 5. That all lands unsold at the time they are offered for sale, should be open for purchase to the first applicant for the period of six months at the upset price. 6. That, at the toiminatioh of the period of six months all lands remaining unsold should bo offered at one-half the upset price, and that whatever shall remain unsold when thua offered shall thereafter continue open to purchaeo to the firet applicant at mich price, or be disposed of by way of endowment. Mr. Taylor to move, That the petition of Edwin Stanley Brookes be referred to the Petitions Committee. Bγ. Nicholson to move, That a select committee be appointed to consider and report on the administration of tho Waste Lund a Department of this province, with power to call for pereonsand papers; committee to consist of Messrs. Ball, Clarko, Cieigbton, Giifillau, Bucklund and tho mover. Captain Coopbb to move, That an address be presented to tho Superintendent, intimating tu Hie Honor that it is the wis.h of this Council that sufficient reserves of land in each district be set apart as school reserves. Also, That the Council may be furnished with u. return of the various sections that have been already reserved for the purpose of education ; likewise, of those sections that His Honor proposes to reserve for the said purposes from tho Waate Lands in the possession of the Provincial Government. ORDER OF THE DAX. Adjourned Debatfi on tho Question, That with a view to the diminution of the City Rates, all license fees, levied within the precincts of the City of Auckland, ought to be paid over to the uees of tho City Board.
