(Before Thomas Beckham, Esq , IJ.M.) Mr. Boardnian appeared for Government, and Mr. Preece as interpreter. Hana Tanurairangi, Wuir.ku, claimed for 10 flailing net?, 10 pigs, I canoe, '2 large box-is. The claimant and hit cou>in, Allan McCasV.ill, gave evidence in respect to this claim. The evidence- given in examination and cross-examination was very lengthy. It was to the effect that at a meeting of the Thames natives in 1563, claimant was told that he had better leave, and in fact the natives insisted upon his leaving. The sum of £2,625 for profits on the mill was withdrawn on the Commissioner pointing out that there was also a claim at 10 per cent, i'or tho capital expended on the place and mill. He left simply because of being desired to go. Tho machines were lost through being left. A port on of ono was taken by the natives. The cattle and horses were sold for less than they cost. The sheep charged 35s for would be bought at the present time for about 15s, but they would sell for 35s at the timo they were lost. Bpiha Kaihau of Waiultu, claimed £'dS for boxes, pigs; two copy books, 10a; oven, boiler, spades, canoe. They were lost through the war. The troops took the canoe and cut it up at Onehungu.
