Selwyn, for Southampton. ARRIVAL OF XHE ALICE CAME BON. The clipper <e Circular Saw " liner Alice Cameron, Captain P. Carter, has e~ain made another rapid run, evidently with the view of keeping up her reputation as a heeler, by making the harbour yesterday afternoon, only six d?ys and a few hours out from Sydney. She brings a full general cargo and several passengers, details of which will be found below. The Alice Cameron left Bydney at 5 p.m. on the 24thult.,had fine weatherwith fresh south andsouthweßt winds to Three Kings, which were sighted on Saturday morning last; had fine winds along the oeast, and anchored off the wharf at 4.30 p.m., making the run in six days and a half. No vessels were sighted on the passage. We have to render thanks to Captain Carter, of the Alice Cameron, for supplying us with files of Sydney papers, copiou- extracts from which are to he found in another column. ARB I Vali OF THE STAB OF THB SOUTH. The steamship Star of the South, Captain "W". Bendall, arrived in harbour at 10 p.m. last night from Napier, bringing a cargo of 80 head fat cattle and 200 Bbeep, consigned to order, all in splendid condition, ana which will be landed at Kohimarama at daylight this morning. She also has or>e passenger —Mr. McHardy. The Star of the £outh left Napier on the 27th ult. at 2 p.m., and shortly afterwards encountered a heavy Mack N.IS.. gale,, which compelled her to seek shelter under Black Reef, Mahia Peninsula, at 2 a.m. on the 28th. . The gale continued up to Saturday evening, when the . steamer proceeded on. her voyage at 10 p.m.; from that.place had variable 2tf."W. weather to the Bast Cape, which was rounded at 8 p.m. neit day (Sunday). Thence had strong S."W. breezeß, and , arrived in Auckland harbour at 10 p.m. last night. Passed the a.s. Taranaki, bound South, off the Kawa Saws, at o p.m. on Sunday last. She reports the cutters Hero, Bittern, Betsey, and Singleader, also the schooners Saucy Lass and Success, as arriving at Napier the day she left (Thursday liSt). . The fine trig Moa, Captain Robertson, arrived in harbour jesteiday from Sydney, after fl most tempestuous passage, bringing a full oargo and some 8 passengers, full particulars of which will ho found in our Customs columns. She left Sydney on the 15tb ultimo, and had fine weather and calms until Tuesday, the 18th. Then sue experienced a heavy easterly gale, which blew with unremitting -violence untU the following Monday, 24th, during which the brig was hove-to for over 3 days under nothing but a close reefed main-topsail, and scarcoly any progress made; on Tuesday, the 25th, then only 120 miles from the Australian Coast, the wind shifted to the westward, when a fine run was made across to the Three Kings, sighting them at daylight on Saturday laBt; had variable winds with fine weather on the coast, and arrived off the North Head yesterday morning, afterwards coming up harbour to discharge. Two barques, apparently bound to San Franeisoo, were sighted outside off Sydney.

The Tahitian schooner Eugenie will be taken on the North Shore Patent Slip this morning, for inspection, overhaul, &c. The sohooner Hope, Captain Carlaw, took her departure yesterday morning for Wangapoa, to a full cargo of sawn timber for Opotiki The cutter Stag, Millis, master, sailed last evening for the Great Barrier in ballast. The direotors of the Auckland Gas Company ara desirous of receiving tenders from a vessel to convey from 250 to 350 tons of coal from Newcastle, N.S.W., to this port. ;. _ . .... The Government p.s. Sturt, Captain Fair child, leaves this evening for Wellington via the East Coast port*. Upon arrival at Wellington slie will be laid up for general overhaul, repairs, &o. The ketch Speedwell, for Russell, Bay of Islands, leaves again for that port to-day. _ The barque Eliza Shairp, Captain <J»y, arrived at Newcastle from Dunedin on the 18th ultimo. The Sydney Empire of the 19lh ult., reports the departure of the barque Anne Melhuish, for Sydnej. We are inclined to think this is a mistake, and that Auckland should have been the destination intended. The Cambodia. The barque Cambodia, recently stranded on the Manakau bar, and now lying at Onehungo, repaired, is announced for sale by private contract. Further particulars will be found in our advertizing columns. The B. P. S. N. Co.'s s.s. Tauranga, _ Captain Sellars,| is now alongside the wharf taking in cargo, and announced to leave again for Tauranga and Opotiki, calling at intermediate ports, ibis evening. The b.s. Midge, preparatory to taking up the Northern steam service, made another trial of her engines round the harbour yesterday. The cutter Frances, Sullivan, master, arrived last

evening from Mahurangi, bringing np a cargo of firewood. The schooner Kate Grant, Captain Matzen, sailed last night for Wangarei, with a general cargo and three passengers. The p-s. Enterprise, No. 2, Captain Davies, may bo expected to arrive early this morning from Wangarei and Omah. The schooner Ivanhoe, Captain McGregor, took her departure last evening tor Mongonui, with a full general cargo, and some five passengers. The cutter Heather Bell, Dam, master, left again last evening for Mahurangi, with a cargo of maize, &c., and 6 passengers.
