OTAGO.

1 he amount of business done since the date of last report, has been very moderate. Importers' operations have, in consequence of reduced stocks and small shipments, been light, and trade in other respects has been wanting in anything like briskness. Markets, though presenting a quiet appearance, have been buoyant, the state o 1 supply counteracting the effect of the want of activity (usual at this season of the year), and permitting, in the list of staples, mention of numerous items inclined to improvement. In all transactions coming under notice, rates have been firmly maintained, and no disposition to concession observable anything less of firmness, would, no doubt, have induced speculative business, but as prices for the leading articles of consumption have ruled, there has been little opportunity of sales extending beyond the the bounds of current wants. For export coastwise, a fair amount of orders have been to hand, and the demand for goods for the "West Coast is improving, while country trade has been interfered with by the extremely unfavourable weather prevailing, and but few goods have been forwarded for the interior. The state of credit continues good. In the money market there is nothing to call for remark ; rates of discount remain unchanged, and exchanges close, viz: Issue on London at 2 days' sight, 2 per cent; at 30 days', per cont; at GO days', 1 per cent; on Melbourne, J per cent, and oil Sydney and the other Australian colonies, 1 per cent, premium.—Times, June 20.
