This Day. Mr. Clabb; to move, That tho report brought up by the committco on Mr. Busby's claims be adopted. Mr. Sheekan to move, That notwithstanding the report of the committee on Mr. Grace's petition, this Council is of opinion that the petitioner has (through no neglect of his own) suffered great loss in respect of his contract upon the Auckland and Drury Railway works, and recommends his caße to the favourable consideration of the Provincial Government. Mr. Newman' to move, That the petition of Chas. Haselden be referred to the select committee appointed to report on Joseph Tuckwell's petition. Mr. Mat to move, That (he following be forwarded by address to the Superintendent:—That in tho opinion of thia Council, if any Provincial Government officer absents himself from tho duties for which he is paid to take a seat in either House of the General Assembly, his appointment should be cancelled. Mr. Staek to move, That the Committee of Enquiry as to Manukau Pilot be empowered to sit during the recess, with powers to call for papers and persons, and bring up a report next session of this Council. Mr. May to move, That as Mr. Warner's salary was the only one reduced in session 19, and as when it was so reduced it was intended to make a reduction of 10 per cont. on all salaries, this Council is of opinion that the present reduction in that officer's salary should be only 10 per cent, per annum, so as to make the two reductions equivalent to the percentage of reductions in salaries now proposed by the Government. ORDER OP THE DAY. Adjourned debate on tho question, That in the opinion of this Council the duties and fees imposed by the Native Lands Act 1865 and the Native Lands Act Amendment Act 1866, upon the disposal of native lands and the issue of Crown grants to natives, are injudicious and oppressive, and calculated to defeat the better objects of the original Act of 18P2.
