THE PUBLIC MEETING.

There are few, we dare sa\ T , in Auckland and its neighborhood but are aware that the great public meeting to endorse the.policy and conduct of our Representatives now in Wellington, and to express the Auckland opinion on the political matters of the session, will be held this afternoon, in the Hay market, Durham-street, at two o'clock.

That the meeting will be a large one, we have little doubt. That the opinions of the people will be fully and outspokenly expressed, we as fully b'lieve. Certain resolutions will be proposed iiii-1 duly spoken to. but it will of course be (.*• 'initcte];t for other persons to address the meeting Amongst the workmen of Britain are strong minds as well as strong arms, and at political meetings at home great truths are often enuncia'ed, and startling addresses delivered by the thinking men of sneli classes. The same rule applies to the class here, and we trust on the present occasion that the mass of the people, the real backbone of society, the productive classes will, through their representative men, give public expression to their feelings on the matter before them.
