Last Saturday saw, the finish of the : Port Nicholson Yacht Club's racingprogramme. The first race to start waa the Ladies' Race and the boats that faced \ the starter were : —Atalanta. (Miss MeCormish), lmih ; Viola (Miss O. McLean), 9min"; Wairere (Miss M, McLean), 16min; lolanthe (Mrs. G.. McLean), 16min; Venus (Miss M. Pemberton), 16min; Rawene (Miss Kiernan), 21min. The Rona and May did not start. The Commodore's boat, the Viola, was well sailed by Miss OliveMcLean and led throughout and won. easily. The lolanthe was second, and the Atalanta, which started late, third. The sail-off between the Waitangt and the Kotiri for the points prize was won by the Waitangi by 10 minutes. A launch race for the Rose Bowl, an annual event, was won by the Marie, owned by Mr. Webb, last year's holder, her opponent, the Puriri, not beingable to get her engine going properly, thus suffered defeat by 20 minutes. The racing this season has been exceptionally good and several boats have come to the front that were not expected to. The performances of theKotiri, Venus, and Atalanta. have been excellent. It behoves the Club to rearrange the classes next season.
