The Noith Island Battalion, of 500 men, will be jiobohsed at Tientham on FRIDAY, the 4th Apul, 1902, and the men of the Wellington Volunteer Distnct will be drawn fiom the following &üb-eenties — Wellington, 60 ; Wanganui, 35 ; Napier, 35; Palmeiston Noith, 34; New Plymouth, 20; Haweia. 22; Gisboine, 20 ; Masterton, 20 ; Dannevirke, 13 ; Woodville, 13 ; total, 272. Applications, in wiiting, to be sent to the Reciuiting Board at the sub-centre nearest to the residence of the applicants. 2. Reciuiting Boards ha-se been appointed at the sub-centres above named, to whom instructions have been posted legaiding the selection of the men, the conditions being. — Height, between sft 4in and sft lOin Weight, not exceeding 12st Chest measurement, 35in (expanded) Age, between 20 and 40 NO MARRIED MEN TO BE TAKEN Must be good rider and good shot Must pass medical examination. Pieference in selection to be given to — Ist, Members of former N.Z. South African Contingents 2nd, Members of Mounted Rifle Coips 3id, Volunteeisgeneially 4th, Ex-membeis of Volunteer Coips sth, Membeis of Defence Rifle Clubs (sth, General Public. 3. Reciuiting Boards will give instiuctions to accepted men to provide themselves with blankets, about rates of pay, and about allotments of pay to lelatives in New Zealand.
