HAMPDEN-WAIANAKARUA WOMEN ',S ASSOCIATION,

The annual bazaar in aid of the funds of the above association was held at Hamptlen an July 5 and 6. Captain Reijmoml declared the bazaar open, and afterwards sot a good example by purchasing, articles from every stallholder. This yepr the public contributed moro liberally than before, showing that the work done-by the Ladies' Guild is appreciated.- TJiei sales were very brisk during the afternoon and evening, each stallholder doing her best to make the bazaar a succss. On Friday evening a concert was given by Oamaru performcrsf, and was one of the best ever hold in Hampden, The items were varied to suit all tastes, and encores were the order of the evening. Miss Isa McWilliams, aged nine years, dressed as a nurse, for a song, was encored again and again. A shower of coins was thrown into the (lag during the singing of the chorus, T.he takings totalled £251, and this will be further augmented' by the sale of goods left over at a future date, The stallholders ■ were:— Hampden: Plain stall—Mesdames I, R,-Douglas and Ward; fancy stall—Mrs Marshal and Miss McMillan; flower stall, Mrs Davis;. sweets stallMrs Lefevre, Misies Dawson and Watt.
