RACING CONFERENCE.

The Racing Conference, Sir George Clifford presiding, resolved that the list , of disqualifications should include the ianies of horses known to be Owned by a person disqualified. - ' The. minimum 'penalty for late acceptances was reduced from £lO to £5. Atythe request of the Stipendiary Stewards' Committee, • the president moved'that racecourse detectives should be appointed by conference. Representatives of country : clubs raised the question of expense. Other objections were made, and the proposals were heavily defeated. A resolution was passed talcing away the power of starters to placo misbehaving horses on the outside of the field, it was considered that such

horses should be 'placed at the rear of the field or outside a hurdle. The executive was authorised to spend up to £IOOO on tlio Sports Protection League. The following were appointed the Stipendiary Stewards' Committee for the ensuing year:—Sir George Clifford, Hon. W, H, Heri'ics, Hon. 0, Samuel, Messrs P, Miller, 0. S. Watkins, and E. Campbell. The following Dates Committee was elected:—Messrs E. W. Alison, W. E, Bidwill, E. Goodbeliere, P, Hunter, 11. Lowiy, and 0. Miller,

The Hon. J. D. Ormond moved that the vice-president should be elected annually in like manner to the president. The motion was lost,

Sir George, Clifford was re-elected president, and the conference recorded its appreciation of his services and expressed gratification at his again consenting to become president.
