ENFIELD NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent), Last Friday evening a farewell social evening was spent at the residence of Mr Charles Sutton, of Lome, for the purpose of bidding farewell to Bugler It, Sutton, who was oil final leave prior to leaving for the front. Messrs \V. Bradley and J. Johnston represented the Enfield Patriotic Society, and 'Mrs W. Bradley the Enfield Bed Cross,

There was a nice little gathering of friends and well-wishers, though the weather interfered somewhat with the

attendance. During the evening instrumeiilal items were given by Mrs Wells and Miss Wallace, songs by Messrs W. Bradley, J. Johnston, and W. Sutton. Miss E, Wallace played

Bradley, chairman of the Enfield Patriotic .Society, explained the object of Ihe meeting, saying .that it was the society's wish (hat no young fellow should go away without something from this district to remind him of the good wishes of those he left hehind. He then called upon Air Johnston to make the presentation. Mr Johnston made a very appropriate speech and advised the guest to write home often to his parents, who would always he anxious for his welfare, lie then asked Uuulcr Sutton

to accept a safety razor as an expression of good wishes from his nianv friends, who wished him God-speed and a safe veiiim. Mrs Bradley (lien, on behalf of the lied Cross, presented Bugler Sutton with an outfit, making at the same time a very neat speech, Bugler Sutton, in replyin.", thanked those present for their gifts, and said he would always endeavour to do his [share in the great cause. The company then joined in singing "For he's a jolly good fellow/' after which Mr Sutton entertained Hie party to supper, and after votes of thanks and' the singing of the National Anthem a very pleasant evening was brought to a close.
