G, W, Jiussell (Minister of Internal Affairs) lias received a letter from Lieufenniil-Colonel Melniies (chief secretary of the 'Salvation Army for New Zealand) stating that the Army has arranged for the organisation throughout the Dominion to hold a "'Belgian Weok" during the first week in December in order to raise as large a sum as possible for the relief of the distressed Belgians, Commissioner Hodder lias received an urgent cablegram from General Booth, stating that tin Belgians are in as bad :a plight as ever, and that assistance is sorely needed. The Salvation Army in New Zealand hopes to raise nt least £SOOO by the effort about' to be made. ■The Minister has replied, thanking Lieutenant-Colonel Mclnnes for his intimation, and expressing the highest appreciation of the part the Salvation Army is taking in seeking to raise funds for our Belgian Allies, The money raised by the Salvation Army will be distributed by Iheir own officers in Belgium.'
