SERVICE OF SONG AT HAMPDEN.

A very successful service of song, entitled "The River Singers," was rendered on Tuesday evening, in the Hampden Presbyterian Church, by the local choir, under the -leadership of ll'r 11, Walker, and : Miss Anderson, organist; while Mr, H. .Jidiuondston acted as reader. The proceedings opened with a verse of the National Anthem, after which the chairman, Rev.. Wm. A' 1 feature of the evening, which lent gtoatly to the success ul ! the entertainment, was the assistance rendered in several a 111hpms .by abon t a .dozen little girls,' great' credit' being due to Mis? Anderson for her efforts in the training of them. Towards the middle of the service of song the collection was taken lip by two little boys dressed in khaki, i they being largely rewarded and the result will enable the choir to hand over a very handsome sum for tlio object mentioned, Special vfltcs of thanks were accorded all who had assisted to bring about such a success, after which a very enjoyable time was spent over' a. cup of tea and refreshments, kindly provided by the choir and ladios of the congregation, After singing a new verse Of the National Anthem, " For Our Men at the Front," and the pronouncing of the Benediction there was brought to a close ouo of the bent entertainments ever- given in Hampden.
