' Miss Copland, who is. severing her connection with -the South School to take up secondary' School woi'k', was yesterday afternoon presented by the teachers and the scholars with 'a l'beautiful 'pendant, The chairman of the committee' (Mr T;'Hunter),ln malting the' presentation, referred to the loss the school would sustain through the departure of Miss Copland, who' had always done really conscientious work in the school, aud by her pleasant manner, had endeared herself; to both teachers and pupils. The headmaster, in endorsing the chairman's. remarks, made .particular reference to Miss Copland's sympathetic manner and the genuine interest taken by her iu her work, both in and out of school. Miss McNaught and Mr Arnold added their tribute of praise as to Miss Copland's many good qualities as a teacher. Mr Tempero made an appropriate reply on behalf 'of the recipient.
