WAR BONUS FOR IRONWORKERS.

EMPLOYERS DECLINE CONFERENCE, DUNEDIN, September 2. To a request by the local Boilermaker's Union for a conference on the matter of a war bonus, the'secretary of the Otago branch of the New Zealand Ironmasters' Association has replied: "Yonr t further request for a conference regarding a war bonus was placed before the employers, when it was again decided not to agree to any conference on the matter,"

The previous ' request of the Union was made some-time ago, and it was then pointed out by the employers that as a Dominion award was in force, a separate proviuical arrangement could not be considered. Since then, howover, the Canterbury employers have met their men and granted a bonus of os per week, hence the renewed application of the Otago workers to which the above reply was received.
