I Customs Deportment, Wellington, 30th Annus!, 191 il WITH reference to the War Regulations issued on the 24th July last, and to the advertisement of tiie fitli August in connection with the same, it has been found advisable to make certain alterations, and the following; statement now explains the position. i." • to obtain licenses to trade w • Japan or France. , (a.) Licenses are required to import goods into New Zealand I'ro'ni all countries except Britain, British possessions, Prance, Japan, and tlie United States. (b.) A license must be obtained from the Comptroller of Customs, before the goods arc ordered, for each firm with whom it is desired to trade.

Licenses will not be required for goods bought out of slock in Brilain, British 'Possessions, France, Japan, or the United States, but in no case shall this be construed into permission to (1.)
