SCARLET FEVER OUTBREAK.

In connection with the'scarlet fever cpcdemic, the Health Department brought several charges against persona who had been in contact with sufferers, charging thorn with failing to notify anil exposing infected clothes. Counsel for the department said the cases were brought for the purpose of drawing publie attention to the regulations regarding infectious diseases. Small penalties were inflicted by the magistrate. - liU'cgard to one case, in which Mr G. T. Booth had been in his daughter's, room, but not in contact with' the pa- • tient, there was much argument as towhether the doctor in the sick room could not be equally charged .with exposing infected clothes. Counsel for the department asked for an adioumment in order to bring evidenced to infection carying, -"but the magistrate dismissed the charge'. ' Some Christehnreh doctors are somewhat negligent in notifying Infectious diseases, and the Public Health Com'mttoe of llie Hospital and Charitable Aid Board has forwarded evidence to the board's solicitors with a view to takmg action against one of the-doc-tors. A member of the board, at vea . tenlay's meeting, said that there'was no reason why proceedings should not be taken against doctors 'as well as against, other, persons who failed to Observe the law.
