SHEARERS DEMANDS.

DRASTIC PROPOSALS, ~ i local support; ' A combined meeting of the Otngo and Southland Shearers' Union and the Otago and Southland 'Agricultural and Pastoral Workers' Union was held in Oamaru last night, when the following demands as framed-and tiled by the Wet lington T'nion were, considered:— Shearers, 25/- per ]()(), special sheep to be paid for at double rates; shed hands, £2 In/- per week; pressers, ft) per week or 1/9 per bale or 7d per cwt; cooks. £4 per week for up to twenty men, £5 per week for over twenty, and £(i per week for over thirty men.
