James Allen, General Godley states that when at Home ho visited Ilorncliurch, where a number of New Zealanders are in hospital, and found everything going on very well. • He also went to see the trainig establishment on Salisbury Plain, and found the men very comfortably located in huts. . " General Godley' visited the New Zealand.hostel recently established for men'on furlough from the front. For this ; purpose, 1 lie states, three corner houses have been taken in Russell Square, near to Headquarters, and the hostel should prove a groat boon to the men. This is the hostel for which' the Xew Zealand Government recently sent Home £4OOO. The convalescent depot at Epsom was also'inspected by General Godley, who reports that he fomnlit' an excellent institution and weH'iuaiiiigeil by an..lmperial officer, Colonel Kilkelly. Some huts hail been set apart at Epsom for Xew Zealand soldiers, but General Godley states that there 1 is some doubt about Xew Zealand retaining them, as they may all be wanted for the Canadians. In that case, Xew Zealanders' will get instead the convalescent depot nf llornchurch. General Godley expressed the opinion that small convalescent'homes, such us they had in Egypt, are not 'necessary or desirable, as they will get much better results by having their efforts conceuatrated and co-ordinated, He went over the convalescent hospital at Brockloburst, a'iid thinks that with two hos-pitals-one at Walton and.the other at Brocklehurst—and the convalescent liojiis at Horiichurch, together with the' training establishment ,nt Salisbury Plain, there is every reason to believe' that the men will be well looked after' ami that the interests and co-ordination of the forces- will be well maintained by Headquarters in .London.
