THE REV. W. B. MARTEN'S SERMON.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir. — I always understood thab the Rev. Mr laitb was the leader of the pro* hibition movement), bub I notice the Rev, Mr Marten claims Jesus Chrisb as the leader. The Rev. Mr Marten mnsb have a differenb Bible to mine, for mit I can find no authority for anything like prohibition. If fche Rev. Mr Marten haa found a new Bible or a new Christ ha should say so, and let people know, and so save them from wondering bow one, who by his trade should be a believer m the old original Bible, can stand up m his pulpit and fcwisb ib so. The knowledge bhab he Ib going by a new Bible would explain it so easily. The Rev. Mv Marten's statement) thab there are 17,000 drunkards m New Zealand and 13,000 die every year, drunkards according to thab must have very short lives. Bub is nob 13,000 jnsfc aboub fche number New Zealand loses by death each year, and they musb all be, so fche Rev. Mr Marten says, drunkards. I suppose prohibitionists don't die, but, like Theo. Wake, leave the colony, or do they recant and die drunk.— l am, etc., Wondering.
