The mayorol election to-day was keenly contested, and the polling was the heaviest on record for a mayoral election. The result was the re-election of Mr H. Larsen for fche fourth time, who polled 205 votes ; J. Soanlan, 196 • S. Riley, 75. Dunedin, November 85. The city election resulted as follows : H. Gourley „ „, H. Sfcewarb (prohibition) 85. Invercargill, November 25. In the mayoral election Josiah Hanan polled 358 votes as against 259 for John Stead. Bofch are councillors, and Mr Hanan will be the first; native of tne towiji fco occupy the chair. There was a good deal of the temperance element m fche contest, Mr Stead being a prominent good templar ahd prohibitionist. New Plymopth, Noveniber 25. Mr J. B. Roy was elected Mayor for the fifth time, polling 310 to Councillor Furlong's 133. "
