Mr Haggen has memorialised the Minister of Justice for a revision of the sentence passed on hirn in the criminal libel action. It is understood the Chief Justice will recommend the remission of the fine of L5O. Numerous enquiries are being received by Mr A. Hislop, secretary of the former military tournaments, asking whether a tournament will take place this year. Mr Hislop states that owing to the poor support accorded by colonial volunteer companies, the Government declines to grant any assistance, and the project haa been abandoned. Out of the whole of the volunteer companies in New Zealand only 33 were represented. The M-ihinapua, with the Sin Francisco mail, arrived at 7.30. It will be sent south to-day, partly in the Omaptra and partly in the Rotokino. Between 30 and 40 M.H.R.'s and tadies left at about 2 a.m. in the Hintmoa for a trip to the Suunds. Tht weather is wet and rough. The P*ci6c Lodge, No. 2, New Zealand Constitution, celebrated its jubilee laib night. Jewels were presented to several officers in memory of the occasion. A Urge number <>f visitors were present, and congrai uhhons were received from the Grand Lodge and ninny others.
