Tho Southland Hospital Trust have decided to apply to tho Government for L25OO, fo build additions to the hospital, Dr M'OJrogor having reported that tho oldest part of tho present structure, be- , sides being badly ventilated and inoont voniontly arranged, is surgically insanitary, an opinion which the resident surgoon ondorsea, stilting that he has difficulty in treating suigical cases. Disease among well-wintered slieop is prevalent in tho Western district. The animals die within an hour of the attack. Tho liver breaks down easily, is of a pale color, the gall bladder ia greatly distended, and in some oasea ruptured. The di6oaao appears identical with that reported from Rangitikei.
