WELLINGTON. October 12.
Tho Picturesque Atlas cases are adjourned till Friday, when judgment will bo given. It is understood than an appeal will bo made, whatever may bo tho result. Inspector Thomson received a telegram from Otaki as follows : " On Saturday nighb tho kitchen, store room, and dining ! room of the native collego accidentally caught fire, it is supposed from tho washhouse fire, and were burnt down. Insurance L400 on all tho buildings in tho Northern Office. Tho damage is estimated at L100. The Premier will leave for the South on Wednesday, llo will attend tho banquet to Mr M'Keiizto at Palmorston South. A man named Joseph Valentine Bourko, who was under warrant of commitment to Now Plymouth gaol for disobeying an order of tho Court, jumped off tho Manawatu Company's train near Shannon this morning, but was captured after a chaso of a milo or so.
