WESLEY CHURCH SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC.
Tbia picnic wes held in fine weal her et Awamoa yesterday, when Mr Holmes kindly threw bis grounds open to the Sunday school children for the occasion. There was a large oumVer of parent* »nd friends of the children present during the day* and altogether, includine the young people, there would be about 200 pionicers; The children assembled at 'he church, and under tbe care of their teachcra ware marched to the grouDd, bnt some of the younger ones were conveyed in vebi clefl. The spot chosen for tbß picnic was delightfully altuated, and sheltered by a belt of plantation on tbe weather side, and bad a fincopen view seawards. Once on the ground the games customary to such occasions were began and played with spirit till luncheon waa announced. The children ranged in a circle in the shade ol the bluejiumß, eang a hymn of thanks, aod were served witb tea, sandwiches and cake to their hearts' content. The afternoon was spent in a vari?tj of pieasing ways, and all §eemed te thoroughly tr>joy themselves. The Rev Mr Spenoe, M« ears Bell, Kay, Homer, Wanabrough, F»rr, Crawshaw, Gledhill, Grenfell (2), and others were the principals in the manage* merit of tbe day's effiirs, and they did their work well. After tea cheers were given for tbe ladieß and those wbo h&A provided the good things, and he'ped 'o make the picnic successful, and to Mr Holmes for the use of bin grounds.
