CHRISTCHURCH. August 25.

An extraordinary meeting of the New Zealand Shipping Company was held to* day, and wca well attended. Its business was to elect a director in the place of Mr Coster, who at the time had not pafd his calls, and wta, therefore, not qualified. As he has since peld them, he was again elected. An amendment, moved by Mr Percy J. Fryer, that it is undesirable to elect « director at present, received only one vote. Mr Fryer staUd that be had a legal opinion that he had in reality b< t > eleoted at the annual meeting, and intimated his intention of taking legal pro eeedings to force the director* to recognise bis election.
