The Customs authorities have issued instruotions to the Grown Prosecutor to apply to tho Supreme Oourt for a mandamus to compel the Mayor and Dr Harding to «ive judgment in case Customs authorities v. Charles Martin, of the Albion Hotel, charged with having seven unstamped boxesof cigars in hispossession. Tho Justices banned entered a conviotion, but delined to inflict a penalty as required by Uw. At the Appeal Oourt to-day judgment in the Grown oases reserved of Quinn (Ghristohuroh) and O'Neill (Dnnedin) was delivered affirming the oonvictions. In the casn of Guv and Kinross (appellants) v. Bullocks, trustee (N-«pier), the Oourt reversed the judgment of the Oourt below, and overruled the demurrer to the pleas of the defendants, Messrs Guy and Kinross.
