NAPIER February 3.

Information was received in town yesterday, that on Saturday night, John Hare was arrested at Farndon, charged with burglary upon the premises of Mr White, of the Farndon Hotel. It appears that White had missed, lately, a considerable portion of the stock he kept in his store, and had been imputing dishonesty to his servants and others in the house groundlessly On Saturday oveunvjj something in the manner of Hate aroused suspicions in Mr White's mind and he kept watch upon his movements, and about ten p m. saw him go round the house, open the storo, and go in. White was on the balcony at the tune, but quickly slid down, fastening Hare, and sent for Constable Motley. Hare was then found to have a bottle of brandy in his possession, which White alleges to be his property. It is stated that Hare obtained entrance to the store with the aid of a skeleton key. Hare was brought into Napier Hospital to-day, aa he was suffering from the effects of a fit. He is now in a very precarious condition. A man named Peter Regan, who was brought down from Tologa Bay, charged with lunacy, and who attempted to commit suicide by cutting his throat, wns brought up at the Resident Magistrate's Court, GisWne, on Saturday last, and committed for trial. An inquest will be held on the late fire at the Konini Hotel.
