SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. (PER NORTH OTAGO TIMES SPECIAL WIRE.) Wellington, Feb. 1.

The schooner ashore at the mouth of the Manawatu is the Pelican, owned by Mr H. Ajtken, of Oamaru, and chartered by Mr Williams, of Wellington. She is coal-laden, and was bound from Greymouth to Foxton. She will probably be got off. February 2. The ketch Forest Queen has been floated off Ofcaki Beach. The Hyderabad is still in the same position. The Pelican is likely to be got off. Arrived — Claud Hamilton, from Nelson ; Taiaroa, from the north. Lytteltox, Feb. 2. Arrived — Helena, brigantiue, from Bay of Inlands ; Wanaka, s.s., from Port Cl<almers. Sailed — N.Z.S. Co.'s Opawa, for London, with four passengers and a cargo valued at L 96,000. Mr J. T. Graham, the actor, is one of the passengers. The ship Northern Monarch, Capt. Ran'lom, arrived thi3 morning, anchoring off Ripa Island, at 9.30 a.m. She has some 255 immigrants on board, and left Plymouth on October Slst. The yellow flag was hoisted, and the ship placed in quarantine, there being measles on board. During the last month there has been 22 cases of measles among the children, and nine deaths have occurred during fhe passage, all of children under eight years of age, and with one exception from bronchitis following measles. Two recent cases of meailes have occurred within the last week, and there has ,i>e«n no other disease of any kind worthy of note, during the passage.
