OTEPOPO ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meetfng of this Board was held on Friday, the 17 th inst., at which there were present Mew* Anderson (chairman), Henderson (Treasurer), Falconer, M'Donald, A. Marshall, G. Marshall, and Ross. The minutes of last meeting were adopted as read, and the outward correspondence was read and approred. The following letters were road and considered : — From Mr Burnett, Engineer, offering to gravel the road to th« railway goods shed, provided the Board would bear half the cost ; bat the road not being a public highway, the Board had no power to accede ; the Clerk was accordingly instructed to write to Mr Grant, General Manager, stating the urgency of the case, and also the necessity for the erection of cattle and sheep yards. — From the Under-Secretary for Public Works, asking for a description of the proposed road at Breakneck, and a statutory declaration by the chairman or clerk. These were ordered to be furnished. Be footbridge at Breakneck, Messrs Ross, Henderson, and M'Donald were appointed to wait on Mr Cooper, with power to act. The contractors for Contract No. 64 having failed to take- it up, the offer of Mr Johnston, at LlO6, was .accepted. Three accounts were passed for payment, and the Board adjourned.
