MECHANICS' INSTITUTE.— POPULAR READING.

Wo havo much pleasure in appending a programme of the Reading to be given on Friday evening this •week, by H. Clapcott, Esq., on behalf of the Building Fund of the Mechanics' Institute. The pieces he has selected are really favorite ones, and we trust to see a large attendance. This Reading will be given in the Northern Hotel Assembly Room, which is to be portioned off into "reserved" and unreserved." Mr Clapcott, wo are glad to observe, has made the prices very low, to suit all classes. We trust the members and Committee of the Institute will endeavor to induce as many of their friends as can possibly attend to be present, when we hope that the proceeds to be handed over to the Building Fund will bo something handsome. Mr Mitchell, during the evening, will play several pieces of music. We may also mention that it is probable that a lady, who has already earned enviable renown as a singer, will lend her assistauco . —
