OAMARU JOCKEY CLUB.

A meeting of the members of the Jockey Club took place on Saturday afternoon in the Star and Garter Hotel, Mr Clendinnen in the chair. The following persons (subject to the consent of those not then present) were appointed a Committee for making all arrangements for the next race meeting : — Messrs CHeeson, Clendmnen, Luke, Aitken, Dansey, Louis Fenwick, M. R. Miller, Ostler, H. Julius, A. R. B. Thomson, Roxby, Whitmore, Pringle, Black, Waddell, Rich, Quarrie, and Connell — five to form a quorum. A draft programme of races was drawn out, showing five events for each of the two days' racing, and representing money to a considerable amount. The programme, however, is still subject to alteration or modification. It was moved by Mr Thomson, seconded by Mr Miller, and carried — " That the Secretary be instructed to write to the Superintendent showing the necessity of placing on the Supplementary Estimates & sum for a Queen's Plate for the Oamaru Races ; and also that the members for Oamaru, Oamaxu

Country, and Lindis be requested to advocate the passing of the same." On the proposition of Mr A. B. B. Thomson, Dr Webster was, subject to his consent, appointed Judge. Mr H. Julius \ras chosen as Clerk of the Course. The following gontlemen were appointed Stewards : — Messrs R. Campbell, Jun., A. li. B. Thomson, M. S. GUeeson, W. H. Ostler, James Gardiner (Ben Lomond), and M. R. Miller. It was decided that the raceB should come off about the beginning of March.
