Several petitions were presented. Ono -was from settlers in the Lindis District, in reference to the state of the road there. The Speaker informed Mr France, -who presented it, that it could not be received, as the prayer was, directly, for the appropriation of a sum of money. The requisite modification was suggested to Mr France. The Solicitor laid the Vagrant Bill, 1861, Amendment Ordinance, 1 866, on the table. It was read a first time. The annual reports of the Immigration Agent and Sheep Inspector were tabled. Several notices of motion were being given, when Mr Grant drew the Speaker's attention to the fact of strangers being present, whereupon, on the order being given, reporters and strangers withdrew.
