STOCK AND STATION REPORT.
Messrs Rotse, Mudib & Miller report aa follows : — Business in every description of stock has improved since our last, and wo have every prospect of a busy season in stores, at little reduction upon our last year's rates. Fat stock continues scarce and high prices ruling, especially for our Northern markets. Our quotations are : — Fat Cattle. — 50s to 55s per 1001b. on the station in Otago ; in Canterbury, 55s to 60s, according to distance from market, and very scarce. Stores continue at last quotations, few offering. Much Cows. — Much in demand, at from L12 to L20 each. Fat Weddjsrs — None of any consequence left in our district, -ctmaequently quotations would be noini-
nal j our last sales were at 4£d on tho station. They aro nearly as scarce to the South. Storks. — Wo look forward to ruling high in Canterbury 5 in Otago we have only one transaction to report — 6000 6 and 8-tooth, delivery after shearing, at 12s. Ewes. — Wo have large transactions under negotiation, and have completed salo of 4000 8-tooth, delivered at Molyneux, at 12s each, from tho flocks of Messrs Campbell & Low. We have also sold a mixed lot of 900, full and broken, at 8s 9d. Our quotations for South of Waitaki, after shearing, are : — 2 and 4-tooth, 15s to 16s 6d ; 2, 4, 6 and 8-tooth, 13s 6d to 14'3 6d ; 8-tooth, 10s to 12s, according to quality and place of delivery ; broken-mouths, sound, 7s to 7b 6d. Lambs. — Few yet in the market ; we expect the rates current at earlier portion of last season will be maintained. Rams. — Messrs Campbell & Low nre now closed, Messrs Julius nearly so — (those latter gentlemen have been fortunate in importing from Australia tho Champion Ram of tho Intercolonial Show — a most valuable acquisition to our Colony). We have for sale Btill a few hundred of the best rams of the Province. Horses. — At our last monthly sale wo had a very large attendance of buyers, and the prices realised were very satisfactory : — Good hacks, L19 to L33 ; light harness, L25 to L36 ; medium draughts, dull of sale, L25 to L35 ; heavy ditto, L50 to L70. Sheepskins continue in active demand, at 5d to 6d per lb. Station Properties. — Enquiries are now more numerous. Wo have a few for private Bale — firstclass properties. ROYSB, MTJDIE & MILLER.
