Health Dept. Venture
FILMS SHOWN TO PUBLIC AND CHILDREN Over the past few weeks, Mr. J. B. Snoad, Kaitaia District Health Officer, has shown a number of films dealing with education and health to both children in schools, and adults in district halls. This is a service of the Health Department, and is being pursued throughout New Zealand. Mr. Snoad has covered a large portion of the county, and last evening at Peria was the last showing for some weeks, though he hopes to resume operations early in August when he will cover the eastern portion of the county, Awanui, and probably the Kaitaia schools. District Nurses have proved to be very helpful in organising the showings, and their advance party work has been of inestimable value, states Mr. Snoad. It is possible for any school to secure a sound track film projector on a subsidy basis, and when this is secured. films are then supplied from the National Film Library, and from the Health Department Film Library. It is hoped that school committees take cognisance of this fact, and avail themselves of the opportunity of securing one of these projectors at an early date.
