Kaitaia Scottish Society
MONTHLY INGLESIDE With an attendance of 65, the monthly Ingleside of the Kaitaia Scottish Society was held on Saturday 19th February. This attendance was not so large as usual, but there were counter attractions, and the big attraction of an air pageant through the day had tired many. A very varied programme was presented by Mrs. C. Gibson for the entertainment of those present, and many old time dances were enjoyed. Misses Pauline Dykes and J. White performed Scottish dances, and a sailors’ hornpipe by Miss Audrey Foster was much appreciated. Mr. E. Kendrick gave violin and cornet solos, Mrs. E. Clark being the accompanist. Mrs. Begley, accompanied by Mrs. Clark again, offered two songs with feeling. Games and quizzes were held through the evening, competition being between gentlemen and ladies. After supper a non-stop dance was held until midnight, when the gaiety ended with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. The dance programme included Dashing White Sergeant. Strip the Willow, Edinburgh Schottische and Highland Schottische.
